A Butterfly Pass is required to enter the butterfly habitat! The Open Space Authority’s Community Celebration at the newly opened Máyyan ‘Ooyákma - Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve invites everyone to enjoy a fun, family-friendly day filled with festivities. All ages are welcome to come and learn about the unique habitat and wildlife found at the preserve including the Bay checkerspot butterfly. Attendees can enjoy nature, and celebrate as a community. Festivities include guided hikes and activities, booths from partner organizations, arts and crafts, butterfly wing decorating and costume parade for the kids, story times and much more. Parking: Extremely limited parking! RSVP for offsite parking info and shuttles: Parking will be located in North Coyote Valley at Laguna Seca here. Please R.S.V.P. to receive directions to event parking nearby. Due to extremely limited parking, there will be no onsite parking at the preserve, other than ADA-accessible parking spaces. Shuttle buses will depart every 15 minutes to and from the celebration, with the ride taking less than 10 minutes. (The last shuttle departs from the preserve at 2:00 p.m.) The preserve also has bike racks on-site for anyone who wants to bike to the event instead of driving and shuttling. Strollers are OK. Things to bring and remember: Please bring water and snacks (There is no drinking water available at the preserve) Due to sensitive wildlife habitat, pets are not allowed at the preserve.
