  • Scholarship Mountain View hopes to raise $200,000 to give 10 four year scholarships to Mountain View’s graduating high school students

Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement

The Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, Inc. (MVCoCEF) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.   This year, #Giving Tuesday falls on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.

“Our big audacious goal is to raise $200,000 by March 1, 2018, so that we can make Scholarship Mountain View a four (4) year program,” said Julie Conde, Executive Director for the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation.  “We want to help as many Mountain View’ graduating high school students get their Bachelor’s degree.”

Every dollar we raise goes directly to the scholarships for these students.  The more we money we raise, the more students we can help.   SMV has grown from two $1,500 scholarships in 2009 to a record of 13 grants totaling over $55,000.

You can make a direct impact in the life of a graduating high school student by giving them the gift of higher education.  To be eligible, students must come from a disadvantaged socio-economic background which would deter them from pursuing higher education.

SMV recipients are our future leaders who, with your help, are on the path towards achieving their full potential.  Visit our donor page to give a one time or multi-year gift.

SMV has partnered with the City of Mountain View, the Mountain View/Los Altos High School District, the AVID program and the many teachers who give their time, energy and care to these students every day.

"Giving Tuesday is to the nonprofit sector what Black Friday or Cyber Monday is to retail. In an area as fortunate as ours, it is important that we can collectively give back either time or money to help those in need.  We plan to participate, and we hope our neighbors do, too." said Mountain View Mayor Ken Rosenberg.
